Iceland Fashion Week 2026 marked another great chapter in the journey of Gracelandic.
Against the backdrop of Reykjavík, Gracelandic presented SUITE TVENNA · 1963, its latest Limited Edition Collection — a collection rooted in the designers heritage, transformation and the meeting of cultures.
For Gracelandic, participating in Iceland Fashion Week was more than a runway. It was an opportunity to bring a distinctly cross-cultural design perspective into the Icelandic fashion landscape.
SUITE TVENNA · 1963 is a concept-driven decolonial collection inspired by Kenya’s independence in 1963, a moment when freedom emerged alongside inherited structures. Through reversible garments, modular forms and versatile transformative silhouettes, the collection explores dualities; of structure and fluidity, past and present, inheritance and possibility.
FROM KENYA TO ICELAND
Every journey has a beginning, a path and a destination. For Gracelandic, this collection traces a journey from Kenya to Iceland, from Africa to Europe, and from heritage toward the future.
At the heart of this journey is our relationship with fabric, craft and cultural indigenous knowledge. African textile culture has always carried more than colour and pattern. Fabrics can hold memory, identity, place, craftsmanship and stories passed between generations. At Gracelandic, we approach materials with that same sense of respect, considering not only how a garment looks, but where its materials come from, how they are made, how they feel, how they perform and how long they can endure.
Each piece reflects a meeting of perspectives. Garments carry layered narratives open for interpretation, and offering versatility not only in function, but in meaning. Designed to be worn in multiple ways, they invite the wearer into an active role — where interpretation becomes part of the design.
By designing garments that can be worn in multiple ways, Gracelandic leaves space for interpretation. The same piece can take on a different character depending on the wearer, the occasion or the way it is transformed. Versatility therefore becomes more than practicality. It becomes authorship, the wearer is invited to participate in the story.
Minimalism With Meaning
SUITE TVENNA · 1963 is grounded in minimalism and precision, but its simplicity is not without depth. The collection explores how much a garment can communicate without becoming excessive. Clean forms create space for the wearer. Transformative details introduce possibility. Reversible elements challenge the idea that a garment has only one identity. The result is a collection that seeks to hold depth while remaining refined in form.
Maasai Tech-Craft
The story continues beyond the garments through the Etyang Jewellery Collection — “Maasai Tech-Craft.” Styled and accessorised alongside SUITE TVENNA · 1963, the jewellery brings Kenyan craftsmanship into the Gracelandic world and creates a more complete Total Look. It is also an opportunity to place Kenyan knowledge, artistry and cultural heritage at the centre of a contemporary fashion narrative. Here, heritage is not treated as something static or belonging only to the past. It enters into dialogue with contemporary Icelandic design, and the result is a premium cultural fusion that extends beyond geography; connecting makers, histories and perspectives across borders.
African heritage and Nordic minimalism
Gracelandic was born in Iceland, but its story began much earlier. The journey between Kenya and Iceland is embedded in the identity of this collection and brand; in the movement between cultures, climates, histories and ways of being.
SUITE TVENNA · 1963 continues that dialogue. It reflects an understanding of fashion as something capable of carrying different worlds at once: African heritage and Nordic minimalism, memory and modernity, craftsmanship and innovation.
In the duality and multiplicity it brings, this is not about choosing between identities. It is about allowing them to exist together.
Sustainability, authorship and a global outlook.
With SUITE TVENNA · 1963, Gracelandic continues to evolve its approach to design — grounded in sustainability, authorship and a global outlook. The collection is built around pieces that are intentional, adaptable and enduring. Versatility allows garments to move through different occasions and expressions. Reversibility offers multiple identities within one piece. Transformative design creates new ways of wearing and experiencing the same garment. These choices form part of a broader question: How can we create fashion that remains desirable without constantly demanding something new? For Gracelandic, sustainability is not separate from design. It is part of the design process itself through creating a capsule wardrobe and clothing with multiple ways to wear, for every occassion, through dressing up or down, and accessorizing.
Men's Collection
Gracelandic proudly unveils a first selection from its inaugural menswear collection, alongside a unisex Kimono Overlay Shirt — marking a new chapter in the evolution of the house.
Beyond the Runway
For Gracelandic, Iceland Fashion Week is not the conclusion of the SUITE TVENNA · 1963 story. Without being predictable, It is a continuation of Gracelandic’s broader approach to fashion; one grounded in sustainability, versatility, cultural dialogue and intentional design.
Standing on the Iceland Fashion Week runway, Gracelandic brought together different places, histories and perspectives in one visual language. For Gracelandic, Iceland Fashion Week 2026 was another step along that path, a moment to share where we come from, where we are, and where we are going and to share that journey not only with the ecosystem that forms the journey, from behind the scenes, fitting sessions, and all the creatives who take their time to make it all become a reality. It truly takes a village.
